Salmon & Avocado Toast

Quick, simple & super healthy smoked salmon & smashed avocado on gluten-free toast. A low-gluten diet changes ‘gut microbiome’ which will reduce any gastrointestinal discomfort (bloating), & can often result in small weight loss.

Ingredients

  • Smoked salmon
  • 1 ripe avocado, mashed
  • Gluten-free bread, toasted
  • Black pepper

Avocado is easy to mash with a fork if perfectly ripe yet impossible if not.

Tips to tracking down the perfect avocado:

  1. Do the touch test.  It will feel soft but it will not be supper mushy.
  2. Pay attention to the skin. Typically dark green or nearly black & a bit bumpy.
  3. Check the colour under the stem by picking off the stem underneath & you’ll get a peek at what’s going on inside.
      • Mostly green, the avocado isn’t quite ripe
      • Yellowish/brown is ready to go.
