DERBY
After my parents divorce, I was a miserable, overweight teenager that dressed in men’s clothing to hide my shape. I suffered from severe eczema, bloating, cellulite and fatigue. During my twenties, whilst carving out my marketing career in London, I started attending the gym and there began my life-long mission to get fit and healthy.
DUBLIN
At the age of 31, I moved to Dublin where I began to develop my knowledge of fitness and nutrition by qualifying as an instructor. With heaps of passion and renewed energy, it wasn’t long before I was teaching regular group exercise classes and secured my first group fitness management role. My skin started to heal and for the first time in my life, I felt happy wearing a bikini.
AUSTRALIA
In 2008 I emigrated to Australia where I expanded my fitness repertoire to include outdoor bootcamps, personal training, indoor cycling and management at Goodlife Heath Clubs (Australia’s largest health club chain). Looking and feeling great, at nearly 40, I was selected to model in a large health club advertising campaign and was seen on billboards and posters across the country.
TODAY
Approaching my 50th birthday, I now have a small studio in Mickleover, Derby, which I mainly use for personal yoga clients. Most of my general fitness clients prefer online training, as it takes up much less of their valuable time. I travel to London most weeks for home personal training and group yoga classes. No longer miserable and overweight, I feel blessed to have discovered and embraced the wonderful world of fitness.
